Short answer: you do not have to activate Medikro Spirometry software. If system assembled correctly and all elements function properly there is no need to do any specific actions, activation should happen automatically. The reason you see an activation screen in 99% of cases is simply because your spirometer is not connected to your computer (or not detected by it). Be informed, that activation codes do not expire. Follow these guides for restoring activation status.
This is instruction how to get rid of activation screen if you apparently face it.
1. Software was not in use before (fresh installation)
1.1 Connect spirometer to the system
2. Software used to work previously, but now asking for an activation
2.1 Spirometer lost connection with PC
2.2 Activation codes need to be re-imported
2.3 MSS version 4.5-4.7 is in use
1. First launch of the software after installation
You just finished installation of the MSS, you launch it and see a prompt to do activation: an activation screen:
Such window can appear if your Medikro Spirometer is not connected to the computer and Medikro Software didn't have an opportunity to fetch the activation code from the device (Medikro Spirometers come with activation codes integrated into them).
Here is an instruction to solve this situation:
1. Make sure that Medikro Spirometry Software (MSS) is running
2. Connect the Medikro spirometer to your computer, using original USB cable.
2. In MSS open Help - Software Feature Activation
Note. This menu item can be inactive if a study is opened in Measurements and Results window. Close the study and you will be able to launch Software Activation Feature.
3. Software Activation window will open.
4. Check what is written below the line "Enter activation code here". Most likely it looks like that:
It means, that your computer does not detect your spirometer. Check if the USB Cable connected properly both in your computer and in your spirometer. Correctly plugged spirometer lights up a green LED indicator, like shown in the picture:
Try to reconnect the cable, here is the video, how to properly connect spirometer. You might want to try different USB ports on your computer. If green light does not appear, please contact our technical support.
5. Once spirometer is connected and geen indicator lighted up, make sure that system recognized your spirometer. Open "Software Activation feature", the window will look like this:
NB! If you connected spirometer, but despite the green LED, the activation window keep saying "Spirometer is not connected" - please, contact our technical support. Report the serial number of your device - it is printed on the label at the back side of the device's casing.
6. Reboot your computer
7. Launch MSS - you should be able to see, that Software activation feature window looking like this:
Software activation code has been succesfully added into your system.
2. Previously working installation started to ask activation code
2.1. Make sure that spirometer is connected (green LED on the spirometer is light up, activation window shows spitometer's serial number).
If your spirometer indicator did not light up, check in this video if you properly attaching the cable, try different USB ports on your computer. If you have other Medikro Spirometers try using their cables to eliminate hardware issue. If nothing helps to get the spirometer to connect, contact our technical support, report the serial number of the device (find it on the lable at the back side of the casing).
2.2 Try to manually re-import previously added activation codes into software. In order to do it:
Go to Medikro Measurements and Results window (note: patient info can't be open at the same time in that window!)
Help --> Software feature activation --> Activation Codes in the system --> Import... --->
(It should open "File explorer" window with C:/Medikro/Data folder)
Choose ActivationCodes file and press OK
If you have installed the software to non-default location, Text Document (.txt) file may be in another location, for example "c:\Program Files\Medikro\Data". Locate it and press OK.
5. After successful import, close the activation window.
6. Software should now start to use a proper activation code for the connected device.
2.3. Check if you are using MSS versions 4.5-4.7
In some situations Software activation window (activation screen) might appear and activation code requested, while a study is opened in MSS versions 4.5-4.7 .
In MSS versions 4.5-4.7 activation logic has a timing issue, which may appear when opening a study. This Issue is corrected in MSS version 4.8. Upgrading to version 4.8 or newer is the recommended solution.
To avoid the situation in the older versions start the Measurements and Results (c:\Medikro\Spiro2000\Spiro2000.exe) before opening a study. This will ensure that the software is activated properly before the study is opened.
