What is reverse spirometry and can it be done with Medikro Spirometer software?
Bronchodilator Responsiveness (BDR) test involves performing spirometry before and after the patient has taken bronchodilation medication (other names for this test are reversibility test, bronchial dilation). Yes, Medikro Spirometry Software (MSS) interprets the Bronchodilator Responsiveness (BDR) test result. The result is shown in the Personal Information window and on the first page of the Final Report after you completed Pre and Post phases of the study.
How to interpret the results of the responsiveness test?
You can select the method to compare the results of a BDR test by using the following command path in Measurements & Results window of MSS:
Device>Settings>Spirometry>Bronchodilatation test comparison
There are two options:
1) Predicted values. With this option, the difference between the Post- and Pre-phase results is calculated in relation to the predicted value and shown as "%of pred". To assess whether the change in the BDR test is significant, Medikro Spirometry Software compares the relative difference to the predicted value.
2) Pre-phase representative results. With this option, the difference between the Post- and Pre-phase results is calculated in relation to the Pre-phase representative value and shown as "%pre". To assess whether the change in the BDR test is significant, Medikro Spirometry Software compares the relative difference to the Pre-phase representative value.
You can select the method to interpret the results of a BDR test by using the following command path in Measurements & Results window of MSS:
Device>Settings>Spirometry>Bronchodilatation test interpretation
The result of BDR test interpretation is either “No significant change” or “Significant change”. There are several BDR interpretation options available in the Medikro Spirometry Software.
